THIS BLURB IS AJAR

'Cause it's the right thing to do.

We are Ajar, from Vallejo California. Our songs are inspired, created, and mutated from our combined experiences and influences. The resulting music weaves between punk, post punk, garage rock, noise, and anything that suits our fancy. We’ve played in bands from Madison, Detroit, Austin, and California. Now, by some crazy act of life, we find ourselves in Vallejo, building a network of noise and nonsense.

JOHN, ROB, JULIO, PAT AND EUDAEMON

We are a four piece band (plus Eudaemon = five) of members that branch various musical styles that center on Rock, Post Punk, Funk/Blues, and other sonic adventures. We have two drummers, guitar, bass, three of which are vocalists. All of us have extensive life experience playing music in various music scenes including and outside the Bay Area such as Detroit, Austin, Chicago, and Madison, Wisconsin. We all contribute to the creative process. It's a mishmash of influences combining to make musical dreams and nightmares.

EUDAEMON THE DOG

Barker and Licker

Eudaemon likes licking Rob's feet when he's playing guitar. Listen closely and you can hear the effect it has on Rob's choice of notes.

ROB

Guitar and vocals

Robert Vienneau was raised up and taught musics in Madison, Wisconsin. Guitar and vocals mostly. Formerly of the Tar Babies/ Smiling Jack/ Human Horsey. His influenzas include Yes, Jesus Lizard, Mclusky, Future of The Left, Todd Rundgren. And Beastie Boyz. And funky stuff. And Jazz. Old country is okay, he guesses.

JOHN DUDAS

Drums and Vocals

John was conceived in a ’66 Chevy Super Sport, emerged into this world and began screaming and yelling in Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan. He sang for the bands Tom Gemp and The Dharma Bums while also doing experimental noise performances with Ollie (a band who had a dog as their singer). He moved to Austin, Texas where he drummed and sang with the loud caveman outfit, Blort! Now he’s in California, confused and scratching his head. He is inspired by the sound of cicadas.

PAT

Drums and vocals

Patrick Craven grew up in Vallejo California and is a self-taught drummer since he began banging on any available surface (oatmeal boxes, pots, classroom desks and coffee cans) and making unnecessary noises at an early age. Former bands include Rough Haus, Spastic Tweak Disorder, Lighter Thieves and Dammit. Influences include Death, Fear, and Motorhead.

JULIO

Bass

Julio Marquez is a bay area native and lifelong music lover with far too many influences to list (we'd be here all day). Julio grew up in instability and religious fascism and did not touch a single musical instrument until picking up a bass for the first time at age 25. In 2001 Julio's first band Paxane kicked off while he was living in abandoned houses and empty lots under busy SF sidewalks. In the following years Julio played in east bay bands World of Shit, Fukm, and $hort ¢hanged. Recently a block party popped up in Julio's front yard one day and he ran into old comrade Pat and was recruited into Ajar, a refreshing project that resists the common trappings of generacism and is unafraid to take any idea and make it into something great.
